Ruby

Ruby is the most noble single-crystal variety of aluminium oxide, distinguished for its rareness, a feature common also to many precious stones, and for its intense red colour caused by the presence of chromium inclusions. Its rareness as well as its value depend mainly on the intensity of its colour; "Burmese rubies" is the term used when referring to an excellent gem for its features and colour. But this doesn’t mean necessary that the gem originates from Burma. It simply refers to the colour of the ruby that exhibits the features once typical of the gems coming from Burma, today known as Myanmar. A deep red with slight bluish hues.
