Sapphire

Sapphire is a noble single-crystal variety of aluminium oxide, a mineral known as corundum. Typical to this gem is its tendency to exhibit a colour ranging from blue to light blue, due to the presence of hematite and rutile inclusions. Nevertheless sapphires can show different hues going from blue, to yellow and pink.

Differently from other stones, the finest gems come from Kashmir and feature an intense colour and a great brilliance of the stones.
